AGBU 7TH ANNUAL ARMENIAN FEST ATTRACTS HUNDREDS OF LOS ANGELES RESIDENTS TO HIGHLIGHT ARMENIAN CULTURE, ARTS, AND SPORTSMANSHIP

October 11, 2022

AGBU hosted its 7th Annual Armenian Fest highlighting Armenian culture, arts, and
sportsmanship. More than 500 attendees enjoyed the weekend’s festivities organized by the
organization’s Pasadena-Glendale Chapter featured special events including ‘Armenians in Film’
in partnership with AGBU Arts and the Armenian Film Society, a Benefit Concert, and closing
ceremonies. The Armenian Fest came at a time of great turmoil for the Armenian community,
with reignited conflicts between Azerbaijan and Armenia creating headlines and emotional
distress. In solidarity, a portion of the revenues will be donated to the families of soldiers and
displaced citizens in Armenia.
‘Armenians in Film’ took place at AGBU Vatche and Tamar Manoukian Cultural and
Performing Arts Center with over 200 in attendance. Armenian filmmakers from around the
world presented their powerful short films and was followed by a panel discussion moderated by
Tenny Issakhanian, a storyboard artist and illustrator for some of Disney’s biggest animated
movies.
“While for many years we have showcased Armenian films to sold out audiences at New York’s
prestigious Film Society at Lincoln Center, it feels gratifying to present young Armenian artists
at our own beautiful performing arts center in Pasadena. We are thrilled to bring many more
exciting programs to our community in Los Angeles,” said Director of AGBU Arts, Hayk
Arsenyan.
The second evening was host to a successful Benefit Concert bringing together Grammy-award
nominee, Sebu Simonian; Eurovision starlet, Rosa Linn, and other talented artists for exclusive
performances. With over 350 attendees, the concert commenced with opening act Gor
Mkhitarian Band warming up the crowd for an unforgettable night of Armenian music
appreciation and entertainment.
"The 7th Annual AGBU Pasadena-Glendale Chapter Armenian Fest weekend was a tremendous
success! Thanks to all the volunteers, athletes, scouts, parents, artists and vendors who
contributed to an amazing 3-day event,” said AGBU Pasadena Glendale Chapter Chair, Krikor
Demirjian.
The three-day-long extravaganza ended on a high note by celebrating the accomplishments of
AGBU’s Athletics Program with a closing ceremony. AGBU Scouts and other notable figures in
the Los Angeles Armenian community extended awards to the athletes that took home five wins

in various sports. Every year, the Armenian Fest coincides with Armenia's Independence Day,
and this year marks AGBU's 116th year of service to the Armenian Nation.
