On the last Thursday of every month, AGBU’s Young Professionals of Los Angeles hosts the very popular #ThirstyThursday networking night. On Thursday, June 28, over 80 young professionals joined the fun at Burbank Bar and Grille. In addition to the usual socializing, AGBU YPLA emphasized the importance of networking. Upon entering the venue, each attendee was given a color-coded name badge; there were 6 different colors, each representing a unique industry. Professionals from Finance, Law, Healthcare, Non-Profit, Education, and Social Work were in attendance to meet and exchange ideas with other professionals working in similar fields. The name-badges encouraged conversation, “I’m usually too shy to go up to someone at these kinds of events, so having a common colored badge made it that much easier for me,” said Talin H. about the effectiveness of the tactic. Others used the opportunity to meet people in industries that they were seeking employment in. Ara K. said, “I met so many experienced professional in law, which I will definitely reach out to for mentoring as I kick start my legal career.” In addition to the successful networking, AGBU YPLA was able to raise over $800 in donations during this event.
