Since the grand opening of its new community center in the Glendale YWCA in March, AGBU Generation Next (GenNext), has already served dozens upon dozens of new students with its recently established after school program.

Now running through the summer months, GenNext continues to provide quality programming for middle school and high school students alike. The program is open to youth of all backgrounds and serves as a safe place for kids to learn and play. On June 28, GenNext hosted a Game Night inviting all mentees, mentors, and after-school program participants to come together and enjoy an evening of friendly competition. “It’s great to see all of the kids we serve from our different programs bonding so naturally. The mentees from our mentorship program are now voluntarily taking on the role of becoming unofficial mentors for the younger students in the after-school program.” said Saro Ayvazians, GenNext Program Director.

In addition to its one-to-one culturally based mentorship program, having a center in Glendale has allowed GenNext to expand its activities to serve more youth than ever before.

GenNext operates from on Monday – Thursday from 2pm – 5pm, during the summer months. Programming for kids and parents will continue throughout the regular school year beginning in late August.
