On Saturday, March 17, 2018, the AGBU-AYA Pasadena-Glendale Scouts held their Winter Award Ceremony. It began like all others, with the presentation of colors by distinguished scouts accompanied by the voices of saluting scouts singing “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “Mer Hayrenik,” and the anthems of our AGBU and AYA.

The leadership team acknowledged the achievements of the 82 scouts in attendance. The sheer number of attendees and participants in the ceremony was a testament to all the hard work put in by the volunteer leaders on a weekly basis. Every scout was recognized and received either a badge, advancement, or award during the ceremony. Among them were three notable Cadette Girl Scouts, Kouyr Anita Bilamjian, Kouyr Sera Aintablian, and Kouyr Serlee Boynerian, who received special recognition for completing their Silver Awards – the highest achievement for a Cadette Girl Scout.

“The success of the program is greatly attributed to the support of the awesome parents and community of Scouts that make our program possible,” said Local Commissioner Yeghpayr Marc Balian. “This celebration is for the scouts as much as it is for the leadership, who work tirelessly to give back to their communities and help mold the leaders of tomorrow.”

The next award ceremony will take place at the annual summer camp on June 30, 2018. The leadership team invites all those who are interested in joining the full day of celebrations at Lake Arrowhead. For more details, please contact AGBUScouts@gmail.com.
