On Thursday, March 22, 2018 the AGBU Asbeds visited the Western Diocese to meet with the Diocesan Primate, His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian. During the meeting, the Asbeds congratulated His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian for the honor of the First-Degree Medal for Services to the Motherland, conferred upon Archbishop Derderian by His Excellency Serzh Sargsyan, President of the Republic of Armenia last month. Archbishop Derderian expressed his gratitude to the AGBU Asbeds for the cordial visit and commended their ongoing commitment to preserving the rich heritage of the Armenian people through educational and cultural missions.
The meeting continued on with the discussion of a number of topics including, the consecration of a cross-stone dedicated to the AGBU Asbeds along with a a special requiem for the repose of the souls of the founders of the AGBU on April 15, 2018, which will mark the 112th anniversary of the AGBU.
In addition, under the auspices of the Diocesan Primate, the AGBU Asbeds will organize a lecture in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Armenia on Tuesday, May 22. The evening will feature Dr. Hayk Demoyan, the Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute in Yerevan, who will deliver the keynote address.
