On Thursday, March 29, 2018, AGBU Generation Next will open its doors to its brand-new Community Center at the YWCA in Glendale, CA. A Community Open House along with a special ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at the Community Center from 7:00pm to 9:00pm to celebrate the opening of the new space. Generation Next welcomes all Glendale residents to participate. In attendance will be distinguished guest speakers, Glendale Mayor, Vartan Gharpetian; Board of Education President, Nayiri Nahabedian; Glendale Council PTA President, Neda Farhoumand; and Glendale Unified School District Superintendent, Winifred Roberson. More members from the City of Glendale, City Council, Board of Education, Glendale Council PTA, Glendale Teachers Association, Glendale Unified School District, Glendale Fire Department, Glendale Police Department, The Character and Ethics Project, ARK Family Center, and the Glendale YWCA will also be present.

Generation Next has served the Glendale community, the school district students and their families since 1998. With the support of community partners, Generation Next has provided thousands of hours of developmental programming and transformed the lives of hundreds of at-risk youth. The new Community Center will be home to two new free programs, including a robust after-school program, which will serve youth ages 11-14. With the help of the Glendale Unified School District and other community partners, Generation Next will be able to support an additional 80-100 new students before the end of the year.

“We are excited to join Generation Next on the grand opening of their brand-new community center,” said Dr. Ilin Magran, Assistant Director of Child Welfare and Attendance, adding, “GenNext has served the Glendale community and school district for 20 years now and is truly an invaluable asset and resource for my office. We refer students to GenNext on a regular basis and see phenomenal transformations of our youth. I am excited about this new center because it means that Saro Ayvazians, its program director, will be able to accept dozens upon dozens of more students from our schools and district.”
